James Derek Bradley began his acting career in typical fashion: performing in school productions and community college theater. He was born in Marion, Illinois in 1981, the son of Tammy and Jim. He also has a younger brother named Dustin. Bitten by the acting bug,Derek began appearing in school plays and indie films. After more plays in college, he began attending acting school in Nashville, Tn.On the advice of friends, he landed independent roles and befriended a couple of the agents he regularly communicated with - one of whom later took him on as a client.
